DALLAS (SportsRadio 610) -- Texans safety Lonnie Johnson Jr. was in the right place at the right time.

Cowboys backup quarterback Ben DiNucci's pass from his own 32-yard line was deflected by Texans cornerback Tremon Smith and the ball fell right into Johnson's hands.

The Texans' former cornerback-turned-safety returned it 53 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

"(Defensive coordinator) Lovie (Smith) harps on that, just getting takeaways in general," Johnson said after the game. "But my skills with corner is helping me a lot with safety, being able to guard people, being able to recognize routes quicker. Just pretty much knowing where the quarterback wants to go with the ball. And then playing safety, I get to use my vision as much as possible. So it’s just go get the ball at the end of the day."

This was the second of four turnovers Houston's defense forced on the night.

In the fourth quarter, with the Texans leading 17-14, Shyheim Carter also intercepted a pass by DiNucci, who threw another pick to Terrence Brooks before the game ended.
