The rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees is still alive and kicking, at least off the field.
First, Yankees television broadcaster Michael Kay stirred up the ire of Red Sox' fans with his analysis of the Fenway Park crowd Thursday night.
"The Red Sox crowd, very quiet," Kay said. "Now, players who have played for the Red Sox, I have spoke with them and they said the difference between a Red Sox crowd and a Yankees crowd is a Yankees crowd at Yankee Stadium will get loud to try and spur the team on to do something. And the Red Sox crowd reacts to something good and they're being shut out right now so it's kind of a quiet situation at Fenway Park. Like a movie. When things get Fast and Furious, they cheer. And that has long been the scouting report on the Fenway crowd. That's not a knock on them. They react rather than being proactive."
Well, don't think Kay's analysis was lost on Alex Cora.
Prior to Saturday afternoon's game, Cora joined Red Sox Radio Network broadcaster Will Fleming, who asked the Sox manager about the vivacious crowd from the night before.
Cora's response was short and very much to the point.
"It wasn't a movie theatre," the manager said with a chuckle. "It was Fenway Park and it was fun."
