What Manny Ramirez did on a baseball field was a pure spectacle for MLB fans to enjoy. The smooth, effortless home run swing. The postseason heroics. The oh-so-classic "Manny being Manny" moments.

And even he knows that we're watching a whole different level of special talent whenever Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani takes the field. The two-way phenom has crushed 500-foot home runs, baffled even the best hitters at the plate, beaten out routine ground balls and sparked important conversation about embracing MLB's international presence. Take what he did on Monday night, for instance: Ohtani threw six shutout innings while adding eight strikeouts... and then took blame for the loss.

Incredible. For Manny, it's important that we acknowledge just how lucky we are to have this type of figure in the baseball universe, which he emphasized to MLB insider Hector Gomez.

When I play against Shohei Ohtani in "MLB The Show," I thank the higher powers whenever I make even the slightest amount of contact, so I completely get where Manny is coming from here.

And it does seem that a large portion of the MLB community is truly embracing Ohtani for everything that he's given us. We really should be thankful — and more than that, we should be watching — now that Ohtani has exceeded any expectations we could have possibly had, no matter how high, and continues to blow us away every game.

Here are just a few of the social media posts and reactions to his insane 2021 that showcase just how much he has meant.
