Clint Capela is having a breakout season in his first full year with the Atlanta Hawks. Because of it the Hawks are going to make the playoffs.

While some may credit Nate McMillan for the Hawks' recent success, and he deserves some praise as well, Capela is the one on the floor making a difference.

Capela is on pace for a new career-high in rebounds and blocks while also having the second-best scoring season of his NBA career.

While it's always been a discussion in Atlanta of underrated and overlooked players, a conversation that has included Trae Young, Freddie Freeman, and others, Clint Capela is the latest stud who isn't getting the recognition that's deserved.

Capela missed out on the All-Star Game this year and also likely won't be on the All-NBA team either. At best, maybe he'll be nabbed for a spot on the All-Defensive Team this season.

Travis Schlenk, who added Clint Capela ahead of the 2020 trade deadline, discusses what Capela has brought to the team and how even he didn't expect the type of performances Capela is putting up.

"Clint's been great and he's exceeded all our expectations. He never takes a possession off," says Schlenk. "To have that mindset, a team-first mentality, it might not lead to a basket for him but it's going to get somebody else a wide-open shot."

Because of Capela's contributions, the Hawks have been able to withstand lengthy injury situations to multiple contributors while still winning and holding their playoff position.
