College Football: Landry Locker's Lone Star State Top 10, Week Eight

(SportsRadio 610) - The win of the year in the Lone Star state, a near disaster for Texas, some much-needed rest and a massive weekend ahead. Here is this week’s Lone Star Top 10, the 10 best college football teams in the state of Texas.

Send all complaints to @LandryLocker.

No. 10 Rice - The goal to make a bowl is still there after a tough loss to FAU, the Owls just need to win three of their final six. This week they got Louisiana Tech.

No. 9 UNT - UNT now has a winning record at 4-3 with a big, measuring stick game against UTSA in front of them.

No. 8 Houston - Houston needs to win out to even remotely save face this season. This week they have Navy after some much-needed rest.

No. 7 SMU - SMU got by Navy, barely. Now Cincinnati comes to town for one of their biggest games of the season as SMU looks to beat a ranked team, something they failed to do earlier this year against TCU.

No. 6 Baylor - Baylor shouldn’t lose to a team like West Virginia, no matter how overrated the Bears were at the start of the season. If they don’t beat Kansas with a backup QB playing then they’ll be in the convo with Houston and Texas A&M as biggest Lone Star disappointment.

No. 5 UTSA - Again, will UTSA lose again? They’re a 10-point favorite against UNT.

No. 4 Texas Tech - Tech can’t allow West Virgina to beat two consecutive Lone Star teams. Tech needs this W.

No. 3 Texas A&M - Aggies travel to South Carolina as a slight favorite with many calling the upset. Did the bye week give Jimbo Fisher time to fix the offense?

No. 2 Texas - Texas snuck by Iowa State and avoided disaster. Now they travel to OSU, who is coming off the heart-breaking loss to TCU, and begin the toughest stretch of the Big 12 season. OSU this week then Kansas State then TCU.

No. 1 TCU- They’re good, they’re fast and they’re the best team in the state, but can they win consecutive big-time Big 12 games, this one as the hunted? TCU vs Kansas State, a lotta purple and a helluva game for the top team in the Lone Star rankings.

Gonna be a fun weekend. I’ll be in Vegas. Can’t wait!
