College Football: Landry Locker's Lone Star State Top 10, Week Nine
(SportsRadio 610) - TCU continues to roll, Texas loses in Stillwater, Texas A&M's disastrous season continues and some other big stuff happened in week nine of Lone Star action.
Here are this week's Lone Star Top 10 rankings. Send all complaints to @LandryLocker.
No. 10 Rice
Rice now has a winning record and the goal of bowl eligibility is as strong as it has been. Rice will face a Charlotte team they should beat after a much-needed, hard fought 1-point win. This team has had an awesome season thus far and they battle.
No. 9 SMU
SMU couldn't beat Cincinnati despite a helluva effort at the end and needs a win in a big way against Tulsa this weekend. The last time SMU lost a hard fought game at home against a ranked team they had a massive letdown the next week, that cannot happen this time around. They need this W.
No. 8 UNT
UNT gave UTSA all they could handle and while I am sure they wouldn't want a moral victory, they should be proud of their effort. If they beat WKU this week they'll be up to 5-4 on the season and poised to make a bowl and finish the season strong.
No. 7 Houston
The Coogs won't be able to salvage the disappointment of this season completely, but they handled Navy the way they should've and should do the same this weekend for homecoming.
No. 6 Texas A&M
The Aggies continued their disappointing season with an L in South Carolina and while to the naked eye it seems like Ole Miss should hand Jimbo and Company another L, something seems fishy with this 2-point betting line. Could the Aggies get their biggest win of the season this weekend? It seems like the smart people in Vegas think so.
No. 5 Baylor
Baylor handled Kansas and now have a big game in Lubbock against Texas Tech, which should be a really underrated game on the weekend slate, but perhaps the biggest in the Lone Star State.
No. 4 UTSA
UTSA held off UNT and now get some time off before continuing their goal to finish the season strong.
No. 3 Texas Tech
Tech handled WVU and yes, they beat Texas this season, but I just have a hard time thinking they're better than the full streng Longhorns. I can see the e-mails and messages right now.
No. 2 Texas
The offense plummeted in the second-half in Stillwater and Quinn Ewers wasn't on the same page with his receivers as Texas lost another close game. Texas still has an outside shot at getting into the Big 12 title game, but will have to recover during the Bye week and then beat Kansas State and TCU.
No. 1 TCU
TCU is going to West Virginia this weekend, which might be more difficult than many believe. It's never a fun place to go. Keep a close eye on this one, but TCU is clearly the better team.
