Washington Commanders select LSU QB Jayden Daniels with No. 2 overall pick

After all the posturing and rumors, it was indeed Heisman headed to DC – for, with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders selected LSU QB Jayden Daniels.

Daniels, 23, was the consensus top QB in terms of awards last season, as, in addition to the Heisman Trophy, he was a Conensus All-American and won both the AP and Walter Camp Player of the Year Awards, as well as the Davey O’Brien, Manning, and Unitas Golden Arm Awards for quarterbacking.

The LSU star had a career year in 2023, completing 72.2 percent of his passes for 3,812 yards and 40 TD against four interceptions, and added 1,134 yards and 10 TD on the ground.

Overall, in three years at Arizona State and two in Baton Rouge, he had 12,749 yards in the air and 89 TD versus 20 picks, as well as 3,307 rushing yards and 34 TD – the first QB in NCAA FBS history with 12K+ passing and 3K+ yards rushing in a career.

And now, after weeks of posturing, odds changes, and rumors of displeasure with all things DC, it will be Daniels leading the new era of the Commanders.
