DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys will very likely have a need at the wide receiver position in the coming days, but are they willing to bring in a polarizing star such as Antonio Brown to fill the void?
In a recent podcast, Brown made his pitch to owner Jerry Jones.
“Maybe Jerry Jones thinks it looks sexy that I’m putting out all this motivation and all this hard work and encouragement. Maybe he want(s) to harness some of that energy,” Brown said on 'The Pivot Podcast.'
The last time we saw Brown on an NFL field was when he shockingly stormed off the field during the Buccaneers game at the New York Jets on Jan 2. Brown removed his pads and jersey and waved to the fans shirtless as he headed toward the locker room.
Let's face it, the Cowboys will want no business dealing with Brown and all controversy that comes with him, despite the fact that Amari Cooper appears to be on his way out and Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson are free agents.
The good news is 105.3 The Fan's Bobby Belt reported Wednesday that Dallas and Gallup were "getting closer" on an agreement. So that's one less receiver spot to worry about.
There are multiple directions Dallas can go to replace Cooper this offseason, and the most logical way is through the NFL Draft, as this year's class includes another crop of deep prospects at the wide receiver position. It also makes sense for Dallas to bring in a veteran or two on the cheap to compete for a spot in camp.
As for Brown? Don't bet on it.
