LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) – With two games remaining in the Bears’ season, second-year quarterback Justin Fields’ body has taken a toll physically.

Fields has been sacked 48 times this season and taken dozens of hits as a runner in the open field. Fields has played in 14 of the Bears’ 15 games, missing one in late November with a left shoulder injury. On Saturday, Fields was evaluated for an injury after having his foot stepped on late in the Bears’ 35-13 loss to the Bills, but he checked out fine afterward.

Despite the cumulative impact on Fields’ body – and the Bears’ focus to have him healthy heading into the offseason – there are no plans to shut him down for the final two games, coach Matt Eberflus said Monday.

“Absolutely not,” Eberflus said at Halas Hall. “We got to get better. We want to improve. We want to get our team. We want to see where we are. These last few games matter. They’re division opponents to us. Very important to our football team to see the competition, to see the guys compete against our division, and I think it’s important for each man, it’s important for each unit, it’s important for our football team.”

The 23-year-old Fields has completed 62.3% of his passes for 2,167 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 150 carries for 1,011 yards and eight rushing scores on the ground this season.

The Bears have lost eight straight games to fall to 3-12. They’ll visit the Detroit Lions (7-8) on Sunday at Ford Field.
