DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cross this potential free agent tight end off the Texans' list.
The Cowboys are holding onto one of Dak Prescott's favorite targets, as they placed the franchise tag on tight end Dalton Schultz, according to 105.3 The Fan's Bobby Belt.
Schultz, 25, will earn $10.93 million under the tag in 2022. However, the two sides have a desire to come to an agreement on a long-term extension before the July 15 deadline, as the Cowboys don't want to carry an $11 million cap hit through a tight year.
Schultz, a fourth-round pick in 2018 out of Stanford, had a career year in 2021, catching 78 passes for 808 yards and eight touchdowns. His background at Stanford seemed like it could be a schematic fit with Pep Hamilton, who enters his first season as the Texans' offensive coordinator.
