(SportsRadio 610) - Over the span of about 40 minutes, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski defended the quarterback's character and decision to trade for him.
Watson was peppered with questions about why 22 women filed lawsuits alleging sexual abuse, and some went to the police with complaints. He was ultimately cleared by two separate Houston-area grand juries in recent weeks, but the lawsuits are still ongoing.
But Watson reiterated that he never assaulted, disrespected or harassed any woman. He also said he did not plan to settle the lawsuits, instead planning to clear his name.
That would indicate theses cases will be hanging over his head well into the Browns' offseason, and likely into the regular season.
Berry said the Browns have an open line of communication with the league, but did not say whether they anticipate a suspension.
"My intent to try to continue to clear my name as much as possible," Watson said, when asked if he would try to settle the 22 cases.
"I've never assaulted or disrespected or harassed a woman in my life."
