New senior defensive assistant/linebackers coach Brian Flores tells Real Sports with Bryant Gumble that getting hired by the Steelers was a quick process.
Flores, who will appear on the HBO program Tuesday night, talked about a number of topics including getting hired by the Steelers.

Flores tells Gumble, “It all happened very fast. I talked to-- Coach Tomlin Thursday. Little bit more conversation on Friday. Accepted the job on Friday evening.”
Flores adds the opportunity came after any chance of getting a head coaching job after being fired by Miami were gone.
He says he originally contacted Tomlin for some advice moving forward.
“I was thinkin' about, the next steps for me just from a coaching standpoint. And then that conversation turned into an opportunity there in Pittsburgh,” said Flores.
Gumble also asked if Flores thinks Tomlin “threw (him) a lifeline?”
“I'm a very-- capable coach in this league,” said Flores. “But I do feel like he saw a situation where there was-- a very-- experienced coach-- who could help his staff, who was also a Black coach in the league. And I think-- I think that-- that kind speaks to what we're talkin' about.”
Flores also addresses the Patriots not contacting him about any potential openings and how he hasn’t talked to New England head coach Bill Belichick since he filed his lawsuit against the NFL and three other teams, including the Miami Dolphins, citing alleged racism in hiring practices.
Flores also addresses his lawsuit on the show as well.
