The Jets haven't exactly kept their cards close to the vest this offseason, as for weeks -- if not months -- the consensus around the league has been that New York will select BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft.

But that's exactly where the 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior should be projected in reputable mock drafts, according to former NFL scout and Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy.

"I think it's Zach Wilson [at No. 2], by a clear margin for me," Nagy told The Zach Gelb Show on Wednesday. "He's an easy guy to evaluate. The missing part of my evaluation is seeing him, physically. He's the one guy I haven't seen thrown live because of COVID. We couldn't travel much this fall. And I have heard from guys around the league that, when you get up on Zach, he's not a really big guy. So, he doesn't get hit a lot -- he was very well protected at BYU -- so I think there's a little bit of a concern in terms of the long-term durability. Can he withstand it? We just haven't seen it. Maybe he can.

"But, in terms of the passing skillset, the athlete, there's just so much to like. There's so much that's natural about the guy, that I do think he's going to be the pick at No. 2 to the Jets. And I think that's the right pick."

Wilson, who played 12 games under center for BYU in 2020, finished the campaign with 3,662 total passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. The 21-year-old also led the Cougars to an appearance in the Boca Raton Bowl, where he completed 26 of 34 passes for 425 yards and three scores en route to a blowout win over Central Florida.

According to Pro Football Focus' NFL Draft big board, Wilson is ranked the second-best prospect, followed by Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields at No. 3.

The first round of the NFL Draft will take place two weeks from Thursday, on April 29 in Cleveland.
