Former Cleveland Browns star Peyton Hillis is in intensive care after a swimming accident in Florida.

The 36-year-old was helicoptered to a hospital after a "swimming accident" in Pensacola, according to KNWA’s Alyssa Orange. Hillis’ uncle, Greg Hillis, said on Facebook that Hillis is in the ICU, but did not offer any specifics on the incident.

“I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better. He’s still in intensive care and having some problems with his kidneys and lungs but the doctor say he is improving. I just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all the prayers being thrown up on his behalf.”

Hillis has not played in the NFL since 2014. The best season of his seven-year NFL career came in 2010 with the Browns, when he rushed for 1,177 yards with 11 touchdowns, also catching 61 passes for 477 yards and two scores.
