On Monday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter broke some Chiefs news that everyone was waiting for. According to Schefter's sources, the team will place the franchise tag on left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. tomorrow:

The the franchise tag for an offensive lineman comes in at around $16.5 million. During the NFL Combine last week, Chiefs' GM Brett Veach more or less admitted that the move was going to happen, and that the team was still working with Brown on a long-term contract extension.

"I'm sure that's likely," he said, also adding that, "We're gonna work hard to get a deal done with him."

Some cap analysts are predicting that the left tackle could end up signing a deal with the highest yearly-average salary for a lineman in NFL history. Brown was one of the best tackles in football last season: the 25-year old played over 1,100 snaps at left tackle while only allowing four sacks and 12 QB hits.
