With the Steelers currently without a true starting quarterback under contract going into the 2025 season, some big names have been mentioned along with Pittsburgh.
The most surprising was floated on Thursday morning.
According to Ryan Burr, the Steelers have asked Jacksonville about a possible trade that would bring back quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
“This directly from the horses mouth in the [Jaguars] organization,” said Burr, a Pittsburgh native that has worked for NBC Sports, the Golf Channel and more.
Burr followed that up, saying the Steelers would give up both their 1st and 2nd round draft picks this year in exchange for 25-year-old, 2021 1st overall draft pick back Jacksonville.
Both Fan Morning Show hosts Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson say they were sent the Tweet from a person they both trust with reporting and that the speculation about Lawrence is not a joke.
Dickerson and Crowley say that “all the usuals” are dismissing the report, but they are the same people that dismissed Justin Fields and Russell Wilson last offseason.
Lawrence and the Jags had a down season last season. The QB went 2-8 with 2,045 yards, 11 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
Career, Lawrence is 22-38 for 13,815 yards, 69 touchdowns and 46 interceptions.
The Steelers would most likely take over his entire contract.
He’s going into the second year of his 5-year, $275 million deal ($200 million guaranteed).
Lawrence will bring a $17 million cap hit this coming season, $24 million in 2026 and it only goes up from there.
