Cleveland Elementary's Amigos Club Wins Big for Community Impact
Cleveland Elementary's Amigos Club wins $10K for mentoring younger students and community service.
Cleveland Elementary School in Fayette County has been named the grand prize winner of the 2024 Delta Community Credit Union $15,000 Give Back Giveaway. Their Amigos Club, a program that pairs elementary school students with middle and high school mentors, impressed the judges with its dedication to community service and academic support.
The Amigos Club fosters a strong sense of community by creating meaningful connections between students of different ages. The older students serve as role models, providing guidance, encouragement, and academic support to their younger peers. This mentorship program has been instrumental in boosting the confidence and academic performance of many students.
In addition to their academic support, the Amigos Club actively engages in community service. They organize events like Halloween costume drives and holiday pajama drives, demonstrating their commitment to helping others.

The $10,000 prize money will allow the Amigos Club to expand their programs and initiatives. They plan to use the funds to provide snacks, drinks, and field trip opportunities for the students.
Allison Staggs, the proud principal of Cleveland Elementary, expressed her excitement about the win, stating, "We're so thrilled to be recognized for the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. This prize will allow us to continue to provide valuable opportunities for our students and strengthen our community."
The Amigos Club's success is a testament to the power of mentorship and community service. By fostering strong bonds and inspiring young minds, they are making a lasting impact on the lives of their students and the community as a whole.
