It’s the 28th annual run, walk and picnic for a cure: Lauren’s Run. This Peachtree Road Race qualifier is responsible for raising more than $5 Million for pediatric cancer research. Lauren’s Run and Picnic aims to bring the community together through families, schools and companies participating in this 5k.
Lauren’s Run will also feature it’s annual picnic, The CURE Picnic, which is for race participants and families diagnosed with childhood cancer can join together to celebrate their hard work and numerous donations to helping find a cure to childhood cancer. The picnic will feature games, prizes and entertainment including face painting, music and dancing.
Lauren’s Run and Picnic was created by the journey of two little girls both named Lauren, who both battled cancer. The run is to honor their memories. The first run started at the Atlanta Zoo in 1994 after a young Lauren Zagorias lost her battle to neuroblastoma. Shortly after the start of Lauren’s Run in 1994, Lauren Kochman lost her battle to the same cancer and her parents teamed up with the Zagorias to fight childhood cancer. The families have fought side by side ever since with many long time volunteers to continue to raise money for life saving research to find a cure to childhood cancer.
