3. DON’T LET GO
All-female R&B group En Vogue originally recorded this smash hit for the soundtrack of the film Set It Off. This track became a massive international bop that peaked in the top ten in multiple countries. This track won the 1997 Soul Train Lady of Soul Award for Best R&B Group Single. Since then, the group has still been performing throughout the years and been on tour. In 2021, the group made a cameo in the romantic comedy sequel Coming 2 America. In 2022, the trio competed in season seven of The Masked Singer as the "Queen Cobras" of Team Bad. That same year, the group embarked on the Mixtape Tour alongside Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley, and New Kids on the Block.
2. CAN’T NOBODY HOLD ME DOWN
"Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" is the debut single for P. Diddy or some may call him Puff Daddy. It appears on his debut studio album No Way Out and it was dropped as his first song in 1997. The single spent six weeks at number one. However, P. Diddy was already a successful producer, songwriter, and record label owner of Bad Boy Records before he released his album as a performer. What is he up to these days? In 2022, Diddy hosted the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. Shortly afterwards, he revealed that he has a new record label, Love Records. Diddy is the father to seven children and he has 12 Grammy nominations and three wins.
1. ONE SWEET DAY
Mariah Carey wrote this with Boyz II Men. Carey said she wrote a track that was close to a song Boyz II Men had written, so they merged the two. Carey was in the middle of writing the piteous ballad with her longtime collaborator Walter Afanasieff when she had the idea to bring in the R&B group. This was number one on the United States Billboard charts for 16 weeks. Boyz II Men had tremendous success on this chart, with "End of the Road" number one for 13 weeks in 1992 and "I'll Make Love To You" #was also number one for 14 weeks in 1994. What are they up to today? Carey is turning 54 in 10 days. She has two children and still performs today. In my opinion, her voice is iconic and she is one of the most popular singers of all time, especially during the Christmas season. Boyz II Men still performs and have tons of bops and awards to back up their success. The groups most recent performance was in 2022, Boyz II Men performed the National Anthem at the Fiesta Bowl before the Michigan Wolverines and the TCU Horned Frogs faced off in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
