It was the first TLC song that Chilli (Rozanda Thomas) sang lead by herself. This won Grammys for Best Rhythm & Blues Song and for Best Rhythm & Blues Performance by a Group.

In the UK, the single was released on October 19, 1998; it debuted at number one on Halloween and spent seven weeks on top, becoming the biggest United Kingdom hit by a solo female artist, selling over a million copies. In America, it was a slow build, but it managed to rise to number one on March 13, 1999, where it stayed for four weeks. When this bop reached number one in the United States, it marked the longest period between Hot 100 chart-toppers for any act. Aside from music, Cher partnered with Donatella Versace for an exclusive "Chersace'' capsule collection in honor of Pride month in June 2022. A portion of the proceeds was donated to Gender Spectrum, a charity which works with LGBTQIA+ children and young people. Cher is turning 77 this year in May.
