AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Police are investigating an apparent shooting on the city's northeast side Thursday afternoon.
Austin Police were called to the 1200 block of Bonnie Brae Street, near Rundberg Lane and Interstate 35 just before 2 p.m. Thursday, with 911 callers reporting gunshots. When officers arrived, they found a silver vehicle that had crashed into a residential property.
The driver of the vehicle, a Black male, was unresponsive and had sustained gunshot wounds. Officers removed him from the vehicle and began CPR until EMS arrived; the man was pronounced deceased a short time later.
While officers were on the scene, a witness came running up and reported a second victim further down the street. That victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently undergoing surgery, in stable condition.
Police say they believe the two victims were together in the same vehicle when a dispute between them resulted in gunfire being exchanged.
The case remains under investigation.
