Finalists for APD's next chief participate in second night of community engagement
AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The three finalists vying to be Austin's next police chief laid out their case for why they should get the job, in a second night of community engagement meetings Thursday night at the Palmer Events Center.
The three finalists include current APD interim chief Joseph Chacon, as well as Dallas PD assistant chief Avery Moore and Los Angeles PD deputy chief Emada Tingirides.
“I am confident these finalists will help the City of Austin cultivate relationships with our community, accomplish the City Council’s goals, and continue the progress of reimagining public safety in Austin,” said City Manager Spencer Cronk.
Following the two nights of engagement sessions, the community is urged to provide feedback on the candidates through the SpeakUpAustin website. The deadline for submitting feedback is 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 22.
Cronk has said he hopes to have a new police chief in place by the end of September.
