Chris Young says Jacob deGrom isn't going anywhere.
In his weekly conversation with the GBag Nation on Monday, the Rangers' president of baseball operations was asked if the club would consider moving one of their aces if the offense continues to scuffle and they fall out of the playoff race.
"Jacob deGrom's not going anywhere. I can assure you of that," Young said on 105.3 The Fan. "We feel like we got a core group of pitching in place with Jacob and Nathan Eovaldi - big free agents we brought in to anchor the pitching staff. We feel like we have good, young pitching with Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker and Cody Bradford. We feel like we have the makings of a very good starting rotation for years to come. We're not interested in disrupting that.
"It's a valid question. You guys have a responsibility to our fans to ask those questions. I want to assure our fans in relation to Jacob or Evo, that these guys are mainstays here, and they are important to not only this season, but to our future. We have no interest in moving on from guys like that. I appreciate that you guys ask those hard questions, that's why I enjoy the show. You are always fair to us, in turn, you deserve fair responses."
CY also discussed the club's failures to cover first base in Tampa Bay, the offense starting to turn the corner, led by Marcus Semien. Plus, he discussed why their patience with Jack Leiter is starting to pay off, and gave an update on Bradford, Eovaldi and Jon Gray's injuries.
