Days before they were scheduled to be unveiled, the San Diego Padres' City Connect uniforms have been leaked, and they sure are eccentric:
Many have already compared these to the series of "Miami Vice" alternate uniforms that the Miami Heat have worn in recent seasons.
Paul Lukas of Uni Watch is reporting that the Padres plan to officially unveil the uniforms -- which are said to be based off of the "Giant Dipper" rollercoaster -- on Friday. The Padres are slated to sport the uniforms in a game for the first time on Friday, July 8 when they host the San Francisco Giants.
The Padres are the final team scheduled to reveal their "City Connect" uniforms in 2022, part of what is believed to be a three-year unveiling by MLB. 16 teams -- the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds -- have yet to release their "City Connect" uniforms, with the remaining teams seemingly likely to do so during the 2023 season.
