McBryde called Church on stage during her performance for a special duet of "Bible and a .44,” the same song the pair performed together at Church’s tour stop in Chicago years ago that helped launch McBryde’s career.
McBryde was officially welcomed into the Opry by another good friend and Opry member, Terri Clark, who also joined her for a performance of fan-favorite, “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.”
“The Opry is a family and my sister, you have earned your spot at the table,” Clark told Ashley in an emotional welcome to the family.
“This moment is the biggest of my life,” McBryde responded. “And if it’s your first time to be at the Opry, this is what it feels like every time you are here. It looks like it’s made of brick and mortar, but it is pure, pure love. That is what you are experiencing. Thank you. I know what this means. I know what my responsibilities are, and I take this very seriously. And God Bless country music.”
McBryde is the 117th member of the Grand Ole Opry and joins the family of members including Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton, Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina, Darius Rucker and more.
