T.J. Oshie wanted to them to be loud.
He wanted to be able to hear them through his TV.
And so, in the 3rd period with the Capitals up 6-0, the crowd at Capital One Arena responded.
Loud @TJOshie77 chant going out here at Cap 1 Arena....They love that dude...as they should. #Caps

— RMNB (@russianmachine) April 21, 2019Throaty TJ Oshie chant going strong in the arena right now.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) April 21, 2019We found out last June that T.J. Oshie is a bit of a weeper. Wherever he is in the building watching he's got to be emotional about the "T.J. Oshie!" chants from the crowd.

— Washington Capitals (@Capitals) April 21, 2019Earlier in the period, Alex Ovechkin got a bit of revenge on the player who injured Oshie, Warren Foegele, with a big hit.
Alex Ovechkin just delivered a bone rattling hit to Warren Foegele, the guy who injured TJ Oshie on a vicious boarding hit. Huge reaction from the arena as he hit the ice.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) April 21, 2019If there was any doubt, Oshie tweeted his thanks to the fans.
Caps fans you guys are amazing!! Thanks for the chants tonight!! The boys played hard and were fun to watch. Looking forward to game 6. #ALLCAPS #BACK2BACK
— TJ Oshie (@TJOshie77) April 21, 2019And after losing Oshie for the rest of the playoffs, the Capitals and their fans responded by taking Game 5 and a 3-2 series lead.
