D.J. Swearinger did not remain without a team for long.

The veteran safety was claimed by the Arizona Cardinals a day after he was released by the Washington Redskins.

Arizona had first priority in making the waiver claim, as they are the team with the worst record in the NFL at 3-12. The Cardinals owe the remainder of Swearinger's contract, totaling $4.5 million for the 2019 season, per Spotrac

The Packers and Raiders also put in waiver claims for Swearinger, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

Swearinger broke the news in an Instagram post in which he took a shot at the Redskins organization and invoked his fondness for Sean Taylor, writing: "I Wanted To Play For My Idol’s Team And Fulfill His Legacy And Mines! I Gave That Organization My Heart And Soul And They Spit In My Face For Giving My Opinion Only To Better The Team!"
