The Carolina Hurricanes jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Capitals Monday night in Game 3 of their first round playoff series.

Despite losing a pair of forwards, Micheal Ferland and Andrei Svechnikov, to injury, Carolina dominated Washington for the better part of the first two periods, the Capitals finding it difficult to even get a shot away.

An abysmal second period for the #Caps has finally come to an end. They trail Game 3, 3-0 after 40. Caps were credited with one shot on net and nine attempts in second; Canes had 18 shots on net and a pair of goals. #CapsCanes

A pair of Warren Foegele goals either side of the first intermission got the scoring started for the Hurricanes, Dougie Hamilton padding Carolina's lead with a power play goal at the 11:40 mark of the second period.

Thus far, the Capitals' only consolation is Alex Ovechkin's knockout of Svechnikov during a first period fight. Bus aside from that, nothing has gone right for the reigning Stanley Cup champs in their first road game of the 2019 playoffs.

Epic fight. Everything else poop. Ugh
