The Alliance of American Football begins its inaugural season Saturday. Do you care?
No? Kind of? Yes?
Well, the level of play might not be what you are used to with the NFL or even big-time college football either.
And ther are even some interesting new rules: No kickoffs, no extra points, college-style overtime rules, and instead of an onside kick teams face a 4th-and-12 from their own 28. Perhaps the NFL will steal one or more of these soon.
The skill might not be there, the rules are slightly wonky, but at least it is football, right?
We shall see.
