Well, those waiting to see quarterback Kyler Murray throw passes in front of NFL evaluators will have to wait a little bit longer.
Murray has told scouts and several NFL personnel people from different teams he does not plan to throw this week at the NFL Combine, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. Murray will likely throw during Oklahoma's pro day on March 13.
Now, first impressions carry a great deal of weight with NFL evaluators and the NFL Combine was a great spot for Murray to show he is fully committed to football after passing on a MLB career with the Oakland A's. However, this will likely not impact his draft stock too greatly.
Because of the "commitment" questions, it would have been wise for Kyler to throw. I don't see any real down side. In the #NFL, conditions because of weather. injuries, opponents, etc are not going to be right/perfect either. Do it. Shows guts. #NFLScoutingCombine https://t.co/j5bN0SNeHc
— Chris Russell (@Russellmania621) February 28, 2019Of course, Murray may still throw at the Combine after watching the other quarterbacks throw, but per Rapoport, throwing is not part of his plans right now.
The bigger news Thursday came when Murray surprised many in the NFL after he was officially measured 5-foot-10 1/8 and weighed 207 pounds.
The Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma also impressed with 9 1/2 inch hands, larger than other NFL quarterbacks like 2018 No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield and 2018 NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes.
This is huge. He's going top 10. He's probably going top 5. I'm still not at all convinced he's not going 1.Murray comes in over 5-10, over 205 and his hand size is just fine. https://t.co/jVTWKgZO1Q
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) February 28, 2019The other top quarterbacks at the NFL Combine were measured Thursday morning in Indianapolis, with Duke quarterback Daniel Jones standing the tallest at 6-foot-5 1/8, weighing 221, and having the largest hands at 9 6/8 inches.

— Charles Robinson (@CharlesRobinson) February 28, 2019Naturally, these impressive measurements of Murray are both good news for Redskins fans (Murray is bigger than previously thought) and also bad (he may no longer going to be available for the Skins to select at No. 15 overall).
In other words: Same old same old for the Washington Redskins in their quarterback search.
