Alex Smith has said and done almost everything right since joining the Washington Redskins during the offseason. Now, during the team's bye week, he may have stumbled on a hornets' nest.
Appearing on his weekly video podcast for Redskins.com, Alex Smith discussed his kids and how he won't be going to Disney during the team's early bye week this week.
Michael: "My kids did all that. You get a trophy every year. Do you like the trophy, win or lose?"
Smith: "When they're little, yeah, it's great. I mean, obviously, you do transition into a real--my oldest gets the winning and losing. If you hand him a losing trophy, he's going to look at you like 'what are we doing?'"
Michael: "Good."
Smith: "He likes to keep score. He's very competitive."
Good save. Even on controversial topics, Smith manages to play it down the middle with a "shades of gray," measured response. Hopefully, the Redskins will be playing for more than participation trophies during his first season at the helm.
