Bibbs on the rise, Perine on the bubble

Roster cuts will be finalized less than 48 hours after the last preseason battle, and game tape from Thursday night could prove critical for the running backs.

Especially after the loss of rookie Derrius Guice, Samaje Perine seemed like a logical fit to make the final roster. Then he got hurt in the second preseason game.

While he recovered, the team signed Adrian Peterson, who seized the starting job in his absence.

In his final audition for the team, he managed a decent 30 yards on seven carries, but also fumbled the football. The consensus from 106.7 The Fan personalities was a collective groan:

omg u can't trust Perine

If Samaje Perine is indeed on the bubble, losing fumbles is about the worst thing he can do. Running well but that means nothing if you cough the ball up. #Redskins

I actually hated Perine last yr... then he was winning me back looking quicker...more explosive...then he coughs it up again... amazing... killing himself

I had Perine on my 53 simply because I can't trust Adrian Peterson, Rob Kelley & Chris Thompson to stay healthy...https://t.co/2cevGU5hG1HE GONE....Can't trust him in any way, at all, period. Sorry.

On the other end of the spectrum, Kapri Bibbs seems to catapulted himself onto the roster with a strong fourth-quarter performance. Midway through the fourth quarter, he had two rushes for 11 yards, but another 34 yards on two receptions. Throw in some good pass protection and the consensus for him was overwhelmingly positive:

Bibbs with the catch and gets straight up the field for a first. That's really solid field awareness. Nice job.

2nd straight 3rd down conversion for Quinn and a second straight big time blitz pickup for Kapri Bibbs. Right in the chops. Held his ground. Doing a great job tonight.

Bibbs on 3rd down again with a huge gain. 26 yard reception as he smokes man coverage. He's on my roster.

I mean....there is ZERO and I really mean less than ZERO ways you can argue that Kapri Bibbs should not make the #Redskins roster.

Another GREAT blitz pick-up by Bibbs. Caught it late and did what he needed to to get back. Think it was actually a delayed blitz. Drop by Flanagan or that's a conversion.

Roster cuts will begin on Friday and be finalized by Saturday. It's possible that coaches will weight scenarios and performance differently than what fans saw on Thursday night, but Bibbs and Perine certainly turned in divergent performances in the last live test.
