The host team will be represented when the National League takes the field for the All-Star Game, as Bryce Harper gets the nod in his native right field.
This is the fourth year in a row that he will start in the Midsummer Classic, and his sixth overall All-Star Game selection.
There is still plenty of time for rosters to shuffle, and a final player vote could propel Trea Turner onto the bench, but for right now, Harper is the only Nats position player to make the team.
The Nats will also be represented on the mound, as both ace Max Scherzer and closer Sean Doolittle will have the task of shutting down the powerful American League lineup that includes such bats as Manny Machado, Mike Trout and Aaron Judge.
Starters on the American League squad include catcher Wilson Ramos, who will return to Washington and a fan base who adored him as a member of the home team from 2010-16. Trade rumors have linked him to the Nats as the trade deadline approaches in August. The Nats have struggled to replace his presence in the lineup since he left for Tampa Bay before last season.
The All-Star Game will take place at Nationals Park on Tuesday, July 17.
