Before Sunday's game, D.J. Swearinger told anyone who would listen (including the camera crews from NBC Sports Washington) that his teammates were ready to continue the winning streak to three:

Swearinger has never been part of a three-game winning streak in Washington, but then neither has he ever had a season like he's on pace to have in 2018.

The loquacious safety and heartbeat of the defense is on pace for more interceptions (nine) than his previous career high (four). He could also match or exceed his career high in passes defensed (10) with 11 this year, and has a chance to set a new career high for forced fumbles (five) as well.

Not only does Swearinger show up on the stat sheet, but he also steps up when it matters most.

The Giants were driving on Sunday, when Swearinger rubbed off his route to pick up Odell Beckham Jr. on a slant route over the middle. Bumping in front of OBJ, he took the interception that stopped what could have been a game-tying drive:

Another angle of the Swearinger INT. #Giants run the dusty concept (double unders outside, corner from the inside). Nice pass off and adjustment. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/kdsLaIfwNQ

He also stepped up on a Hail Mary pass in the third quarter, corralling this Eli Manning pass from center field:

Just try and keep @JungleBoi_Swagg out of the Pro Bowl this year! The man named '2 spoons' now has 2 INTs on the day!DJ Swearinger - having a day!#Redskins pic.twitter.com/4UoEflrqKC

Shameless plug: Swearinger has a weekly appearance with Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier on 106.7 The Fan, on the day after the game. Tune in tomorrow to hear from the defender himself.
