On the football field, the Washington Redskins love that D.J. Swearinger is vocal. On social media...perhaps not so much.

He sounded off on Twitter Saturday night, firing back at draft experts connecting the team to a defensive back in the first round:

Soo Like I've Been Saying We Had The 32rd Ranked Run Defense Last Year! (Embarrassing) Why Would We Get A Db With That 1st Pick --?!?! He cant Put His Hand In The Dirt! It's Only Logic To Get Help Where You Hurt Right Or Wrong?!?!? #FACTS

What Swearinger may not be accounting for is the departure of Kendall Fuller via trade and Bashaud Breeland's likely departure in free agency. That leaves the Redskins Josh Norman at CB1 and not much top talent at the other positions.

It's also ironic, considering Swearinger's other hot takes this offseason.

When the team included Fuller in the trade for quarterback Alex Smith, Swearinger was an outspoken detractor, calling it "a joke," "a tough one" and "unbelievable."

In the very next tweet, he welcomed Smith to the team. He also went on a moonwalking tour to walk back his comments, telling the NFL Network that he didn't fully understand the business side of the trade at first:

Swearinger deserves some credit for putting himself out there, but attention is a double-edged sword. Whether or not this tweet looks red hot or ice cold in six months will depend on circumstances out of his control.

Either way, go ahead and save it for later.
