Once upon a time, chants of "You Like That!" by gleeful Redskins fans echoed through the lower bowl at FedExField. Little did those fans know, their chant was already trademarked.

Less than a week after Cousins exclaimed that after the biggest comeback in franchise history (vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Cousins trademarked his supposedly off-the-cuff phrase, uttered conveniently in front of NBC Sports Washington cameras.

Now, several years and a new city later, Cousins isn't ready to let the bit die. So he filed to claim "You Vike That!" according to Twitter user @Sportsnaut:

The trademark would still need to be approved by the Patents and Trademarks office, with his either his team or the NFL potentially having a say in the matter.

It's eye-roll-inducing in Washington, after six years of both Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins, who combined to become the trademark twins. Perhaps it's worth noting that Cousins initially used his "You Like That!" line on apparel that was sold to benefit the International Justice Mission, which protects people living in poverty against violence in third world countries.

It's unclear how he would use the new tagline, or how it would be embraced by a fan base that does not have an emotional attachment to the original moment.

After throwing for more than 4,000 yards last season with 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions,Cousins signed a three-year, $84 million deal with the Vikings in March. In his first start for the Vikings on Sunday, Cousins led the Vikings to victory over his former mentor, Kyle Shanahan, and the San Francisco 49ers.
