106.7 The Fan Redskins beat reporter Craig Hoffman was in Indianapolis for the 2019 NFL Combine. Craig will provide analysis on prospects that the Redskins should consider taking with the No. 15 overall selection in April's NFL Draft:
It's no secret that the Redskins need a wide receiver.
While Josh Doctson has gotten marginally better, he still has not blossomed into what they needed him to after spending their first round pick on him in 2016. He's now entering the final year of his contract and it's time to start finding a replacement, preferably one that can immediately help whoever winds up at quarterback.

In the big body, super athlete mold there is no one more appealing than Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.

— Pro Football Focus (@PFF) March 3, 2019The absurdly shredded 6-4 pass catcher became an internet sensation when a picture of his workout group at EXOS went viral. He then backed up how athletic he looked with a headline-grabbing display at the combine, where he ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, jumped 40.5" and benched 225 lbs a whopping 27 times.

— David Schuman (@nucfootball) March 3, 2019To put an ounce of cold water on Metcalf: he was extremely slow in the quickness and change of direction drills. He was one of the worst wideouts in both the 3-cone and the 20-yard shuttle.
Those characteristics would help explain why one scout told me that N'Keal Harry (WR, ASU) is actually the better prospect as he's a better route runner with better hands. Other scouts dismissed that notion, but there's no debate that Metcalf is a special, special athlete.

— Simms & Lefkoe (@SimmsAndLefkoe) March 1, 2019The question will become can any team that drafts him turn those traits into a truly great NFL football player worthy of a top-15 pick.
