Once upon a time, the Redskins were the undisputed sports kings of Washington, D.C. Now, with attendance falling and the rise of the other teams, the Redskins are bringing some of that star power to each of their home games.
Last week, it was Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin, who was seen on the sidelines pregame and was an honorary captain for the coin toss. Talking to the media before the game, he said he was passing the torch from the Stanley Cup Champions, hoping the Redskins would go out and win a Super Bowl.
This week, it was Washington Wizards captain John Wall, a noted Dallas Cowboys fan, who has at times showed up at FedExField in a personalized No. 2 Redskins "Wall" jersey, and has also shown up in Dallas gear to cheer on the Cowboys. This time, it was the former:

— Washington Wizards (@WashWizards) September 23, 2018No one should mistake Wall's allegiance: he's a Cowboys fan. But maybe he, like the Redskins, is starting to understand that fans of a city's sports teams just want to see everyone get along.
