Where would we be without NFL insider Adam Schefter?

According to an article entitled, "Sources: Alex Smith's return to football uncertain," Schefter reveals that Smith's gruesome-looking fracture of his tibia and fibula is not conducive to playing football.

Indeed, Smith has had surgery and has a six-to-eight-month recovery time, as revealed by head coach Jay Gruden this week.

At the end of that time frame, assuming Smith has no setbacks and still wants to play, he will have the opportunity to test the results of the surgery, both physically and mentally.

Just like any traumatic injury, there is no guarantee that Smith will be back in the future.

Everyone's sources can confirm that.
