Losing Derrius Guice is a huge loss for the Washington Redskins, even though the rookie has never suited up in a meaningful pro football game.

When he dropped to the turf on Thursday night and the team's medical training staff gathered around, so went the season, at least according to pundits like Rick Snider.
But that doesn't sit well with players like safety D.J. Swearinger, who have a certain set of expectations for "real" Redskins fans:

Swearinger, who was signed as a free agent before last season, made an instantaneous impression on his teammates with his outspoken demeanor, earning captain's honors before he ever played a regular season down with the team.

Now, he's attempting to work his magic on the fans.

"If you think the team's done, you're just not a Redskins fan," he said with a genuinely perturbed look on his face. "I feel like with real fans, when a guy gets hurt, you just pick the team up. You don't go pointing you finger at the coaching staff, you don't go pointing fingers at the training staff, you don't go pointing fingers at Guice or even the team.

"If you're a true fan, be a true fan and fight for us to the long run."
