The field at receiver just got less crowded for the Washington Redskins, who placed Robert Davis on season-ending injured reserve after a traumatic injury suffered in practice on Saturday.
#Redskins head coach Jay Gruden says WR Robert Davis will miss the entire season due to an injury sustained in yesterday's practice.

August 12, 2018 Head coach Jay Gruden said that Davis suffered multiple injuries in his knee, which will require major surgery and nine to 12 months recovery time. Reporter Brian McNally later confirmed that it was a damaged PCL and broken tibia. While players certainly do come back from injuries like this, it is a career-altering injury at the very least.
"Robert's in our prayers, but he'll recover quickly," Gruden told the media. "He's a good, strong, young guy and we'll take care of him."
Tough times don’t last but tough people do, I’ll attack this rehab process head on and I promise I’ll work my butt off to get back right, until then #HTTR✌-- and God bless https://t.co/KNGXXx5x14 pic.twitter.com/qwwuhJUoyE

August 12, 2018 The injury news marks the third time this week that the Redskins lost a player for the season with a knee injury. Davis joins running back Derrius Guice and tight end Manasseh Garner, who each suffered ACL tears in the first preseason game.
The Redskins moved into a multi-day practice session with the New York Jets this weekend in Richmond, and Gruden acknowledged that injuries to both teams will likely change the workout plan for the week. With so many season-ending injuries, Gruden admitted that his practice strategy does come into question.
"It doesn't weigh on a healthy guy; it does weigh on me a little bit sometimes. I feel like I'm doing something wrong," Gruden said. "That's just unfortunate. They're all offensive players too, which bothers me, and they're all great kids. You hate to see anybody get injured this time of year when you're trying to limit the contact and guys are still going down in a non-contact drill. That's very frustrating.
"It is what it is. In pro football, we do the best we can in the training room and weight room, in practice. But this is a tough game; you legs and body get in contort angles sometimes and they happen."
Davis had a share of the team lead in receptions on Thursday, collecting three passes for 35 yards, including corralling this high pass from Colt McCoy:

August 10, 2018 Unfortunately, this will be the last game film he makes until about this time next year. This leaves 10 receivers still on the roster for what is likely to be four to six roster spots.
