With his first-quarter touchdown, Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis moved up the all-time list for scores by a tight end and furthered his run of success with quarterback Alex Smith.

Davis came into the game tied with Redskins legend Jerry Smith with 60 receiving touchdowns, good for seventh-best among NFL tight ends. His catch allowed him to take sole possession of seventh, and just one behind Shannon Sharpe for sixth all-time:

Vernon Davis TD came on the old sluggo-seam concept. Jordan Reed splits outside to the right, runs a slant-and-go (sluggo). Smith pump fakes that way to move the FS, hits Davis up the seam the other side. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/auJSh9QYcE

The touchdown pass also marked the 31st from Alex Smith, as the duo hooked up for the first time in Washington after years together in San Francisco. Davis is by far Smith's favorite end zone target in his career, catching 10 more scores than the second-place Travis Kelce during his time with the Chiefs.

This was a connection that Redskins brass envisioned when trading for Smith this offseason. Look for many more touchdown opportunities this season to end up in the arms of No. 85.
