'Wonder Woman' Lynda Carter is Caps' good luck charm

The queen of DC Comics is also the queen of D.C. sports.

In Game 3, Washington Capitals fans were force-fed a wacky performance from Kenan Thompson, who was brought in to pretend to be a Caps fan while promoting Saturday Night Live on the NBC Sports broadcast.

The real travesty is that, in doing so, authentic Caps fan, actress and Potomac, Md. resident Lynda Carter got ignored.

In Game 4, the original Wonder Woman finally got her due, hobnobbing with fans and lighting up social media. Here's a recap:

The only real snafu in her day was an unfortunate typo in a since-deleted tweet by the NHL Network, and even that was at least funny:

Oh, NHL. Just admit you have no idea what to do about female fans. pic.twitter.com/aertp4wlwc

Carter has lived in the D.C. region since 1985 and is a legitimate fan of the team. By all appearances, she seems to be attending the game because she wants to, and hanging out with fans because she wants to. You'd be hard-pressed to find other celebrity sports fans (a la Spike Lee, Jack Nicholson, Billy Crystal, etc.) making time for fans while enjoying the game from the general admission section.

Perhaps when the Caps fly out of Dulles Airport tonight, they will be escorted cross-country by the Invisible Plane.
