The heatwave pummeling the DMV has nothing on the Washington Nationals over the last month. Well, that may be a slight exaggeration considering the humidity levels are beyond reasonable.
But
since May 23, the Nationals are 21-9. And after completing a three-game sweep of the Miami Marlins are 40-40 and .500 for the first time since April 23.
With the 8-5 win Thursday night, the Nats became the seventh team in National League history to climb back to .500 after being 12 games under, the first since the 2009 Colorado Rockies.
"If you watched our games all year long, there was always that extra fight, that extra push,” the Nats
manager said. “And granted, there’s no secret, our bullpen struggled. But you could see it. We come back. We just couldn’t finish out the games.
“And now we’re finishing out the games. It’s a great feeling.”
After falling behind 3-0 early, the Nats came back thanks to homers from

June 28, 2019 With the win, Washington has put four games between them and the fourth place Mets and claimed to just seven games behind the Atlanta Braves in the NL East race.
"We talked about earlier today. When we get down, there is no quit," Martinez said.
“Everything’s coming together,” Suzuki said. “We’re having fun in the clubhouse, on the field, away from the field. I think as a group, together, we’re coming together real nice.”
