The entire NFL had the chance to sign Adrian Peterson. The entire NFL passed.
And so the Redskins were able to sign the 33-year-old future Pro Football Hall of Famer after training camp already started. The entire NFL said he was done.
AD had the last laugh. With 119 yards on 26 carries against the Titans, Peterson passed Eric Dickerson for 8th on the all-time NFL rushing list.

When is the last time Adrian Peterson ran like this? This has been one of his best games of the season in terms of picking up yards that are not there. #Redskins

Peterson entered the game needing 77 yards to reach 1000 for the season and in the fourth quarter he eclipsed that total.

Go back and check the podcasts. @granthpaulsen & I, back in August said that Adrian Peterson would have 1000 yards and in a game to stay alive in the playoff race, Josh Johnson would throw a TD to Michael Floyd. It's all there.

Adrian Peterson with a lot of burst for a 33-year old running back many thought had too much tread on his tires. pic.twitter.com/FiXQFeCQCj

Adrian Peterson still runs very hard, even more so since Johnson has taken over. Been noticeable these last few games. pic.twitter.com/jcIushQD1K

Good movement up front by the #Redskins OLine on 3rd and 1. LG Fuller got a nice block, as did Trent Williams. Peterson picks up the first down pic.twitter.com/4X1phTIfa3

This Adrian Peterson performance is his mona lisa. I can't believe what I am seeing. This is unreal. First 20-carry game since before Halloween.

Peterson is now under 400 yards behind Jerome Bettis for 7th overall.
