The Washington Redskins have a bit of a pattern: When looking for talent turn to Tuscaloosa.

And in the 5th round, the Redskins again turned to the Alabama pipeline taking center Ross Pierschbacher with the 153rd overall selection of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Pierschbacher has played at left guard (42 starts) before making the switch to center for the Crimson Tide before his redshirt senior season, making 15 starts at that position. In 962 snaps in the 2018 season, he allowed just a single pressure and two sacks, per 247Sports

Pierschbacher says Washington worked him out exclusively at left guard during a pre-draft visit.

“Ross is really smart, can make all the line calls, can play center or guard, either one,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban told ESPN at the Senior Bowl. “He’s got really good feet, he’s got quickness and I think the guy’s going to be a really good player for a long time.”

Pierschbacher told the media he already spoke with future Redskins teammate Shaun Dion Hamilton and he expects to hear from the rest of the Alabama players shortly.

Pierschbacher, a 6'4, 307-pound senior, ran a 5.2 40-yard dash and recorded 20 reps on the bench press.
