Should Redskins keep Josh Johnson?

With the quarterback situation in Washington once again up in the air, should the Redskins keep journeyman Josh Johnson? 

"For Josh, he's done a great job...and that is on the scale of the task at hand, which is coming in having not having started a game since '11, having not played in a game since 2013, and he has made plays," Craig Hoffman told The Sports Junkies Wednesday.
After Alex Smith suffered a serious leg injury and multiple complications and his deputy Colt McCoy broke his leg, the Redskins were short of options. Mark Sanchez failed to impress and Josh Johnson was thrust into the starter's role with a playoff berth still a possibility. 
However, the Redskins faltered down the stretch against Tennessee, thanks in part to a pair of Johnson interceptions, and failed to make the playoffs for the third straight season.

"He has not been perfect by any means," Hoffman said. "(Johnson) has left quite a bit on the field in terms of the passing game but often on those plays he will run for good yardage and move the chains and get first downs."

With lots of money tied to Smith over the next few years, Hoffman doesn't see Washington drafting a quarterback in the first round. 

"(The Redskins) have so much money tied up in it next year, I think like second, third round is the play for quarterback," Hoffman said. "Also, this quarterback crop is not very good."   

Hoffman said if the Redskins can get Johnson on a team-friendly deal he would be valuable to have around due to Smith's injury uncertainty.

"If I was them, I would try and keep him around pending Colt's health, pending Alex's health," Hoffman said. "Knowing that there's a really good chance he probably doesn't last the full next season with (the Redskins)."
