Barry Trotz is no longer the Capitals head coach, but he will always be a hero in Washington.
The Caps Stanley Cup winning head coach returned to Washington for the first time as the head coach of the New York Islanders and was honored by his former club for his four years of service.

“Really, my heart is full of good memories,” Trotz said after the game. “I worked with great people. We had good teams. We won a lot of games. And we did the ultimate: We won a Stanley Cup.”

Trotz looked rather emotional while watching the video tribute, before smiling and saluting the applauding crowd.

“Winning a Cup hasn’t defined me at all,” Trotz told the media. “All it does is, you know, it’s part of your past. And I’m not looking in the past. I’m looking in the future, and the future’s with the Islanders.”

Unfortunately for the Capitals, Trotz's Islanders were victorious, 2-0, knocking the Caps out of fist place in the Metropolitan Division.
