If you forgot Dwight Howard was a Washington Wizard, honestly no one could blame you. The veteran center has played in just nine games this season, and has been out since Nov. 18 after undergoing surgery on a spinal injury.
But Howard is finally progressing toward a possible return, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 20, 2019Beginning "on-court work" is a step in the right direction for Howard, but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll immediately return to the lineup. With only 24 games remaining, it's possible Howard doesn't rush himself back to action.
21-year old Thomas Bryant has performed admirably in Howard's absence, averaging 9.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. However, as a unit the Wizards are the third-worst rebounding team in the NBA, and only the tanking Hawks allow more points per game.
Howard could certainly help the Wizards as they push for a playoff spot, but whether he'll actually see the court again this season remains a question mark.
