The Nationals entered their series against the NL East-leading Mets on a high note, coming away with an 8-6 win to climb within five games of the division lead Monday.
Bryce Harper put the Nats on the board in the top of the first inning, launching a broken-fricking-bat home run into the right field seats. After the pitch, Harper was holding nothing but the handle.

This is a pivotal series for the Nats, who can gain as many as three games on the Mets or, after Monday's win, drop to as many as seven games back in the NL East.
Harper now leads the Majors with eight home runs.
